"digs" is a groovy word for living quarters, or room or dorm. It’s weird they used both words. Normally it’s just "hope you like your new digs". Only the groovy kids know that word, though, so you know it’s ok if you aren’t familiar with it. (ok, in truth, that is like from the late 19th century according to google, cuz I checked, and I know it because I’m an old woman that reads old books, so….)
