    You don’t need to buy a macro lens – there are several good alternatives.

    A scale on the lens to tell you how close you are, really? It’s a hyperfocal distance scale that tells you the DOF at different apertures. How can you teach something that you know nothing about? It’s just teaching others the wrong information which is only going to lead to frustration and disappointment!

    Yes too much talking. Use a higher shutter speed for God’s sake (You are not using flash anyway, to restrict it to 1/250th ). Or go higher up the F stops.

    the newer canon 100mm f2.8 ‘L’ lens (which i i own) is image stabilsed…………………great for hand held macro work
